With votes tallied and a consensus from the snowboard community gathered, snowboarding’s celebration of riders and their pursuits enjoyed one last wild night in Las Vegas as the 10th Annual Rider’s Poll embarked. A rich, brimmed gathering of everyone snowboard made this poll one of the best turnouts to date.
The show sparked up with a rolling slideshow of some of the year’s best images and no shortage of beverages, while a cut of TransWorld’s upcoming film project Get Real fired up the crowd and really got things rolling. MC Todd Richards took a hold of the stage and rightfully off-script led the show—and when Todd is on, no one is safe from insult or weird humor. Nor was the stage safe from Travis Rice’s podium pillaging. Dude picked up four out of the five men’s awards from his insane shred exploits. Rider, Video Part, Standout, and Readers’ Choice of the year all went to Travis. That’s it, but not all though.
The Rome gang (this time clothed as Hunter S. Thompson) stayed at bay while Marie-France Roy climbed the stage a couple times as well with awards for Video Part and Readers’ Choice. Raewyn Reid picked up Rookie Of The Year for the ladies and delivered an acceptance speech from the road, while Jamie Anderson took the cake as Women’s Rider Of The Year. Girl has been shredding tough for a while now.
With props out to Craig Kelly and George Dobis, Northwest shred pitbull Lucas Debari enjoyed the honor of Men’s Rookie Of The Year for logging a heavy video part in TransWorld’s These Days. With the awards coming to close, Jamie Lynn’s band Kandi Coded let some rock and roll rumble followed by Tweakbird.
In a decade of acknowledging the way we slide on snow, we’ve witnessed pioneers accelerate the growth of snowboarding and batter down walls that limit it. From nominees and winners clasping the reigns of riding’s future to everyone who snowboards, this show was for you.

Eiki isn’t really a rookie though, it just looks that way because no one has seen his Euro parts in Up in the Sky or PonyTale… Don’t get me wrong he kills it but yeah how new to being pro do you need to be to be a rookie?
Eiki is not pro yet, he is still on the am army team for rome so that means he is a rookie and he should have won that award and rome should put him on the pro team for sure
It’s kind of unfair because That’s It That’s All was pretty much just a huge 2 hour video part for Travis Rice. And yeah, where are Nick Visconti and Scott Stevens?

yeah nick visconti and scott stevens are both pretty good rider, (scott stevens defintely being one of the most creative riders out there} but honestly its travis rice man who the fuck can even compete with this guy. Those two are fun to watch but when it comes down to it who else has got all 4 double corks and hits 100+ jumps with style and ease. T-rice urned those awards.

I’ll tell you a story… two seasons ago i traveled to NZ for some summer shred and was riding Snowpark for a couple weeks. So one night decide to goto the bar, pretty mellow place one of very few in town for a few drinks and a mellow night… next thing you know Travis shows up drops his credit card and starts buying the whole bar drinks, even jumped behind the bar and poured them himself. Guy is a super good dude and works hard for everything he has… yea the guy sounds like a real ‘douche’ right? haha
Never said he doesn’t work hard…and buying drinks for the entire bar does not a “super good dude” make…Was it ‘his’ credit card, or a corporate card?
Just saying, the guy could’ve done whatever he wanted that night, but he came out and partied with us non super human snowboard people, and was a really nice guy and humble as fuck to meet in person.
I grew up in Jackson and TR is the shit both on and off the slopes. He put in a shit ton of hard work into TITA and deserved all the awards he got. Over the years when I’ve gone back to Jackson, he has always been friendly and humble. Congrats Travis on all your accomplishments!

Rice is a cool dude and threw down a huge video this year which was a cut above everyone else! The things he does in the backcountry is just insane! He worked his ass off and deserves it.
Jib stuff is cool dont get me wrong but usually doesnt have the same effect in pictures and is still pretty new to the snow scene next year it will clean up for sure.

did you not see “That’s it, That’s All.” Travis Rice didn’t win rider of the year for throwin’ some tricks down some rails, he won it because he released a full length snowboard movie that was based around him, and does stuff in the backcountry that no one has ever done. Go check out his corks, then go compare them to aaron’s “jumps”.

PONY TALE was this years movie of the year. Jakob, Hampus, Knut, Pat, Stian and the other dudes show us what snowboarding is really about. A good time. and the filmer captured it and edited it perfectly… So good, i could watch that movie a million times, TITA i could only watch 6 times, cause i would be 10 years older after the sixth time. and the Down with People movie, come on we are snowboard kids, not skaters… Fauk all you JOCKS, just go out and have a good time.

So i get it. T-Rice is great. But the best all around? debatable.
best video part i could see…he had almost an entire movie as his part. and i’m not saying he isn’t good. he’s great as a rider & seemingly as an individual(having never met him personally).
but the only reason this happened is because there was so much hype around “That’s it That’s All”. I mean Oakley, quiksilver & Red Bull had so much media hype on it, that it was even on UFC for Fuuuucks sakes! it induced alot more hype in the snowboard community, like jocks, chongo bros, etc. not MOST of the core shred community. which is fine, it’s what our industry is built on, non-core shreds & jocks. w/e, it’s a fact of life.
there are so many other riders that are more all-around shreds that can do well in pow, jumps, park, rails, etc. every facet of snowboarding and not just pow jumps.don’t get me wrong i love pow more than anything, and t-rice is good at other stuff to (except rails)
but from a completely un-biased place, i’m saying there are other riders more deserving of some of those awards. oooh a double cork, never seen that before. so many riders can do those. rodeo’s, double corks, etc. yeah he had some sick as hell bangers,(like that sick ass backside rodeo sev tree tap) but all around there are better riders. just like i wouldn’t choose jed anderson as the best rider cause he’s a tech rail rat and thats about it.
i’m saying best tech all around, cleanest style, etc should have won.
just my take/rant on it
